ACE have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with Eden District Council to work on a number of identified opportunities and to assist with Appleby’s Heritage Action Zone project. To assist with the delivery of these project activities, ACE has employed Project Coordinator Sue Gilbertson.

One of the first tasks will be centred around getting feedback from Appleby businesses and community organisations regarding training and support needs and what you feel could be done to improve Appleby, both for yourselves, but also as a place to live and visit.

ACE has taken on a short term lease of shop premises on Bridge Street to host ‘The Appleby Story’ exhibition.  The exhibition space opened on Friday, 19th July and welcomed over 225 visitors during its first weekend. The exhibition tells the story of Appleby through images, exhibits and stories … read more

We were also pleased to take part in this year’s Heritage Open Days Festival.  This year was the 25th anniversary of the Heritage Open Days, making 2019’s festival the biggest and most diverse. Eight properties were open in Appleby over the weekend of 21 and 22 September, some of which aren’t normally open to the public.  We are pleased to say the weekend was a great success, bringing many new visitors into the town centre.

We held our first Networking Event on Thursday, 14th March at Appleby Hub.  The event was a great success with over 40 attendees enjoying an evening of lively and positive discussions and we hope this is the start of other opportunities to bring the business community together.

If you weren’t able to attend the event, then please get in touch with us and hopefully you will be able to attend the next networking event which will be held on Thursday, 31st October.

As a result of the feedback received from the initial Training Needs Surveys, we organised a subsidised First Aid training course on 30th May.  We plan to organise further subsidised training, but need to know what types of training businesses and community organisations would like, so if you haven’t already completed a Training & Support Needs survey, then you can do this online (see link below).

Following the success of our first networking event in March, the next get together is planned for Thursday, 31st October.

One of ACE’s first tasks agreed under the SLA is to conduct a survey with local businesses to find out about training and support needs. The aim of collecting this information is to look at how to address these needs, both individually and collectively, and source or provide appropriate training and support.  To enable us to collect this data, it would be helpful  if you could spare 5 minutes to carry out the survey.

If you would prefer to carry out the survey face to face with a member of the ACE project team,
we would be happy to arrange to visit you.

Please email to arrange this.
